Woodlake Golf & Country
Club
Donald Ross was an
apprentice under Old Tom
Morris, Frank Maples was
an apprentice under
Donald Ross, Ellis
Maples, who designed and
built Woodlake was an
apprentice under both.
I wouldn’t exactly say
that there is a direct
connection between Old
Tom Morris
and
Woodlake, but the
quality of great golf
course architecture that
is passed down from
generation to generation
is certainly prevalent
today at Woodlake
Country Club. In 1971
Ellis Maples created a
course described by many
as one of the most
challenging and
beautiful golf courses
in the Southeast. In
1995, a second course
was added to the
Woodlake inventory when
Arnold Palmer put his
design team to work.
Winding gracefully
around the largest,
private, man-made lake
in North Carolina,
Woodlake’s two
championship courses
will provide you with a
golf experience for a
“king”.
